Good with numbers? The Lee Group’s staffing and recruitment team is now hiring for a Headquarters Accountant to support a client in Hampton Roads.

The position, which works Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., features a pay rate range of $18.75 to $22 per hour.

A successful candidate for this position will work within the cash accounting team to ensure all assigned bank reconciliations and/or cash account balance sheet reconciliations are completed timely and accurately each month.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

-Obtain a solid understanding of the company’s cash policies and apply to daily responsibilities

-Must be able to work independently to meet deadlines.

-Must have solid understanding of accounting principles, concepts, processes and methods affecting the balance sheet and income statement of the business.

-In addition to cash team responsibilities, accountant will assist during each month end with the monthly report reviews for assigned business units (BUs).

-In this roll, must demonstrate a strong understanding of the PBU businesses.

-Must have a solid understanding of accounting principles, concepts, processes and methods affecting the balance sheet and income statement of the business units within the PBU – solid understanding of expense allocations; period expense methodology versus accrual method; accounting for prepaid, vendor co-op, customer rebates, customer trips, expense accruals, capitalization policies, depreciation accruals, pass through litigation charges, general insurance, real estate and personal property taxes, etc.; proper coding of expense accounts; full understanding of subsidiary ledgers and financial systems that record data in the general ledger; and others.

-Run GL expense account queries throughout the month to review expenses and to maintain table with large expenses per assigned thresholds for documenting variances.

-Save GL queries in secured PBU folders and provide to FMO team to review expenses among locations.

-Review multiple consolidated BU monthly reports (P&L’s), primarily for the Blended BUs.

-Work in partnership with other accountants in the Central Accounting team to ensure the monthly reports are reviewed for all business units in the PBU.

-Review and analyze revenue and expense accounts to document and correct (as applicable) variances from prior month based on a pre-determined threshold.

-Assist the PBU Senior Accountant(s) in providing post-close expense fluctuations analyses, at either the BU, and/or District and PBU level – as needed.

-Prepare and upload journal entries. Aid the PBU Senior Accountant(s) in research and respond to transactions questioned by FMO team or FF team throughout the month.

-Address tough issues calmly and confidently despite uncertainty and rapidly changing situations.

  • My name is Betty Hall and I have had to awesome experiences with The Lee Group.  My first encounter I went to the office in Chesapeake and spoke with Sheryl Dinger. She said she needed 3 people to work 2nd shift at TFC recycling I replied no you need 2 people.  She then asked if I was a morning or evening person again I replied I’m an unemployed person.  I went to work and after being there for 3 months I was hired on permanently.

    I had been at TFC for a year.   Just by luck I ran into Sheryl Dinger.  We talked and I told her I was still at TFC and I asked her if she had anything else.   She said yes.  I put in my resignation at TFC and started working at Coresix.  Ater working again for 3 months I became permanent.
